Some comments that we received from the "Women
on Wheels Seminar" hosted on Saturday, May 8, 2004 included:
Thanks so much
for taking your time for the class 5-8-04, also the food. It was
interesting, and a lot of things were brought to my attention that will
help me. And thanks to the other two guys that were there.
Everything was great. Cause I know you can't fix everything with a
hammer! Ha!
Your seminar for women was
terrific! You covered a lot of information, and I really
appreciate the little tips you gave and the handouts. I definitely
plan to do business with your auto shop because I know you will be
honest about what my cars need and will provide dependable service.
I
just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the seminar Saturday. You did
a great job presenting everything and I am really impressed with the
amount of knowledge you have. I do appreciate your fairness,
honesty and integrity. By the way, I told my daughter I already
had her Christmas present picked out...the OnStar type thing they have
now that we can put on our teens' car! She nearly blew a gasket!!
Thank you for all of the time that you spent to
provide the Women on Wheels Seminar. My 16 year old daughter came
with me (reluctantly) but said she learned a lot. I think that men
would learn a lot too if they would admit that they don't already know
everything!! In the future, it would be fun to be able to be
walked through looking under a hood and under the car to know what
people are talking about when they tell us something is wrong.
Sometimes we repair someone's vehicle and hear
from him or her months later:
My 1990 Toyota had just about had it. With
nearly 290,000 miles on the engine and numerous incidents for the last
couple of years,
Gary's final diagnosis (in layman's terms for my sake) was, "It has the
death rattle." I drove it a few more weeks until that fateful
summer day when I knew the truck would make it to Ponder Auto Repair and
no farther. My options were to replace the guts of the engine or
to find a rebuilt one. Considering the age of my engine, Ponder
recommended I consider a rebuilt one. The same day, he located a rebuilt 22RE engine,
and by the end of the week, I was mobile again.
I'm happy to report, writing you nearly ten months later, that I've not
had a single engine problem with my pickup, and now the odometer reads
307,000! Thanks, Ponder!
Here's one customer testimonial published in the Car Talk (cartalk.cars.com)
Mechan-X-Files Shop Report:
A friend of mine had his pickup truck repaired
here. I then borrowed the truck to pull a U-Haul trailer to take my
daughter to college in Lexington, KY leaving my friend home in Johnson
City. Somewhere between Knoxville and the KY line it began overheating.
We
continued to limp along adding water constantly until we got into KY when we
finally had to give up and pull into a gas station. They said that we had
big trouble (I don't understand all the details - what does cracked block
mean?). I told them it had just been fixed and he asked if we could get
the mechanic on the line. We called him at home and he talked to the gas
station guy. Then Brian drove to where we were (about 3 hrs) bringing his
brother in a second pickup. They off-loaded my friend's truck into the
brother's truck and we continued on. They pulled the friend's truck back
to town and fixed it again (at no charge). I had only met Brian briefly
before this - he did not do it as a "favor". He did it because
he guarantees his work and felt it had not been fixed right the first time.
How many mechanics would have done that?
